The Job/What You’ll Do:

The Senior Director of Development is a key member of leadership and is responsible for overseeing and providing high-level strategic vision to the rest of the team. The Senior Director is responsible for the management and oversight of business development and philanthropy at Solari. This includes business proposals, grants management, and individual and foundation fundraising efforts including stewardship of current donor relationships; cultivation of new donor prospects; and increasing the current funding base through individual giving opportunities. This position promotes and represents the work and mission of Solari Crisis and Human Services.

Responsibilities:

Business Development

  • Become an expert in the company’s products and services as well as where they sit within the larger ecosystem.
  • Performs competitor and SWOT analysis.
  • Manages business development pipeline and facilitates internal business strategy committee.
  • Identifies and proposes resources relevant to business development goals.
  • Sell the ideals and services of the business organization to the public towards improving the strategic positioning of the organization.
  • Attract, as well as retain clients by developing highly creative outreach strategies in alignment with organizational mission and values.
  • Oversees and manages the organization’s consulting business and works with department subject matter experts to deliver client materials and contract deliverables.
  • Develops cross-functional partnerships with leadership to ensure alignment on the overall business development process and priorities.
  • Works closely with other groups in the organization needed to successfully deliver development proposals in a timely manner.
  • Conducts analysis and feasibility of growth opportunities, new strategies, new markets, and new products and presents them to executive leadership for review.
  • Works with the marketing team to assemble and refine development marketing materials for specific services, including printed/digital brochures and presentation decks.
  • Maintains appropriate records of contacts and efforts in order to build relationships and leverage those relationships to identify new sales opportunities.
  • Builds powerful partnerships externally and internally.

Fundraising/Philanthropy

  • Develops, implements, and monitors the annual development plan and budget.
  • Oversees and implements donor-based software system updates and proactively engages in growth strategies utilizing the software.
  • Oversees the donor lifecycle and recognition programs.
  • Solicits corporate sponsorships for agency events.
  • Develops donor identification, cultivation, invitation, and stewardship strategies that result in single and multi-year current gifts and future estate gifts.
  • Oversees tracking of donor histories; conducts donor research; ensures appropriate outreach is designed and implemented; oversees follow-up with donors (personal visits, phone calls, letters) who have made or expressed interest in making a planned gift; ensures all donors are recognized for their contributions.
  • Organizes local donor cultivation events and prospect high-impact donors and volunteers. Including managing and executing the annual charity gala.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Experience with RFP, RFI and Proposal writing
  • Understanding of crisis and/or human services industry
  • Understanding of behavioral health-related policy & compliance standards
  • Donor relations

  • Ability to act professionally and maintain appropriate boundaries with clients and staff.
  • Ability to report to work, meetings, training, and job-related activities prepared and as scheduled.

Education & Experience:

  • 10 years experience in field, Preferred
  • Behavioral Heath, Social Work or Public Health experience, Preferred
  • Master’s Degree, Preferred
    • NOTE: A comparable combination of education/experience and/or training will be considered equivalent to the education listed.

Working Conditions:

While performing the job duties in the office or at a home office, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands; they must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Exposure to noise typical with office operations. Ability to hear and speak.
